WATCH: Birkirkara Priest’s Disturbing Anti-LGBT ‘Santa Liena’ Homily Sparks Backlash Across Malta

A priest that used the important Sunday homily during the Santa Liena feast in Birkirkara to attack Malta’s gay rights has caused mass outrage across the Maltese Islands.

Provost Paul Vella railed against the “progressive agenda” that Malta has embraced by allowing same-sex marriage on the island. In a church packed with families and authoritative officials, the man of the cloth said that anyone that didn’t follow the teachings of God needed to change.

“And what can we say about laws that go against the holiness of the marriage between a man and a woman. Whoever doesn’t want God in their life as a creation made by God, needs to change,” Vella said during the mass.

He went on to say that gay people were trying to force people out of society, confusingly saying that the progressive agenda would lead to the LGBT community trying to kill the rest of society.

“Whoever does not agree with their teachings needs to leave society, even if they need to be killed to make sure they don’t continue annoying humanity with their continuous agenda that is spreading to the detriment of humanity. There is a need for them to develop,” he continued.

“This agenda, called progressiveness though it is destroying man himself, is denying mankind from its own fundamental and sacred principles – that God created humanity as man and woman,” he said.

The disturbing vitriol spewed by Vella on such a holy day was quickly condemned by various corners of Maltese society

Vella ended by saying that it was a shame that there were so many people following these progressives ideals, which he called warped and wrong.
