Watch: Blaze Hits Rabat Valley As Plumes Of Black Smoke Rise Behind Mdina
Fires and small explosions have been seen and heard in the fields of Għeriexem within the Rabat valley and just behind Mdina.
Eyewitnesses in the area have warned that plumes of black smoke were seen rising behind Malta’s silent city, and footage later sent to Lovin Malta has shown a fire emerge within the neighbouring fields.

Fire engines rushed to the scene, containing the incident and preventing a larger spread of the fire, which a spokesperson from the police later confirmed was a grass fire.
An ambulance was also seen on-site. However, police have said that medical teams were there as a precaution and that no injuries have been reported.
