Watch: Bolt Driver – ‘Youths Pelted Me With Eggs While I Was Driving In Marsa’
A Bolt food delivery driver has said a group of youths pelted him with eggs while he was riding his motorbike in Marsa last weekend.
Busam Srinivas told Lovin Malta that youths have been egging food delivery drivers every weekend for the past few weeks, always in the vicinity of the Marsa Park and Ride.
His friend, a Wolt driver, was targeted two weekends ago and filmed the aftermath of his motorbike dripping with egg. Last night, it was Busam’s turn.
“It was dark so I had to keep my eyes on the road,” he recounted. “However, there were around 10-15 youths, who all seemed to be younger than 25, on a small wall near the golf course.”
“As I was driving, they aimed eggs at my face but hit my bike instead. When I tried to speak to them, they just told me that those were their eggs and ran away.”
Busam, an Indian national who has been working in Malta since July, said he has heard of several incidents of unprovoked assault on food delivery drivers. Besides the egging cases, he has also heard of a driver who was threatened with a knife and another who was tossed into a canal.
He isn’t holding his hopes up for justice either.
“I know how it works as a foreigner. If you call the police, they’ll just open a case but nothing will happen. It’s a waste of time,” he said.
