A cash van caught fire while it was driving along the Gzira seafront this afternoon.

The driver managed to escape the van unscathed, but it is as yet unknown whether there was any money inside it at the time, a police spokesperson told Lovin Malta.

Mobile phone footage sent to Lovin Malta shows the damage to the van was extensive, with practically the entire vehicle in flames. 

It was the second traffic accident of the day in Malta, after a truck toppled over at the Targa Gap roundabout in Mosta.
