Watch: CCTV Footage Captures Exact Moment Kordin Construction Site Collapsed
Newly-surfaced CCTV footage captured the exact moment the construction site in Kordin collapsed this morning.
The slowed-down video shows that the wall which collapsed was as much as three storeys in height, leaving behind it a cloud of dust.
The incident, which occurred at around 10am in Kordin’s industrial estate, left six workers buried in the rubble.
A total of five workers have been saved so far, with three of them suffering from life-threatening injuries. The sixth worker, a 20-year-old Maltese man, has still not been saved from the rubble.
A delicate operation by Malta’s Civil Protection Department is ongoing at the construction site to recover the missing worker.
The five workers recovered have been identified as three Albanian men, one Maltese, and another man from Bosnia, Police said.
An inquiry is being led by Magistrate Marseann Farrugia, while police investigations are still ongoing.
