WATCH: Claire Agius’ Heartwarming Gesture Helps Amazing Local Initiative
One of Malta’s most beloved actresses, Claire Agius, recently chopped off her signature curly locks for an amazing cause. Agius donated her volumunous hair to the Malta Community Chest Fund, so that it could be turned into a wig for for cancer patients who have lost their own hair to treatment.
Agius’ honest account of the feelings she went through when deciding to cut her long hair is truly uplifting and heartening. “I encourage anyone who is thinking of doing it and can do it, to do it!” Agius says in the video as we watch her emotional transformation on her ever familiar face.
The MCCFF, together with wig consultant Ian Miller, has created 250 wigs over the past two years. Today the initiative caters for around 30 wigs a month – so every donation counts as a massive contribution.
President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca praised Agius’ decision as a “great examples to others”.
“Claire has such beautiful hair, and it is such a big part of her identity,” the President said, “I am very proud of her”.
She went on to talk about how the local initiative has become a subject of great pride for the MCCFF – “look at how the generosity of the Maltese and Gozitans has been converted into joy for others. I am so happy that Maltese hair being used to make wigs for other Maltese people.”
We salute Claire Agius’ awesome act of generosity and encourage any who’s been thinking of doing this to take the plunge. After all, if you end up looking as hot as short-hair-Claire, there really is nothing to fear.
