Watch: ‘Democracy Means Letting Others Speak Freely’ – Edwin Vassallo At Charlie Kirk Vigil

At a vigil in Ta’ Qali for Charlie Kirk last night, Edwin Vassallo from the National Democratic Union said that democracy is all about allowing people with different opinions to speak freely.
“Democracy means that if someone disagrees with me, I will allow them to speak anyway,” Vassallo, a former PN MP, said, describing Kirk as a “small flame who challenged the darkness”.
“It means that different voices can speak without the fear of being silenced. It means free speech.”
“However, it wasn’t democratic when the European Parliament, which is meant to be the palace of European democracy, didn’t even allow a minute of silence for Charlie Kirk.”
“It wasn’t democratic when some Maltese people who call themselves liberal celebrated the murder.
“Those who cheer on gender ideology and so-called equality proved how fake this equality really is. Equality means that we can all speak freely, so why celebrate when someone is killed and silenced? That isn’t equality or freedom. Freedom means that we can all speak, and that I will defend your right to disagree with me, not silence and cancel you.”
“Let us be the light and challenge the darkness. Courage is what defines true men and women, and hope stems from courage – the hope to give this country a voice for truth.”
“Charlie Kirk was a Christian, and it’s beautiful to be a Christian. It gives us strength. They can ridicule you in the media and even kill you but they cannot silence you. Charlie Kirk’s voice hasn’t been silenced.”
