Dr Astrid Fearne, Senior Medical Officer at the Primary Care Department in Mater Dei and wife of Health Minister Chris Fearne, has been given the COVID-19 vaccine.

“I’ve just taken the COVID-19 vaccine, I think I made the right decision to have this inoculation against COVID as aside from still taking precautions, now I have something else to fight the virus.”

Even though she has taken the first jab, she said she will still be wearing her mask when outside and following social distancing guidelines given by health authorities.

She appealed to everyone that’s been invited to take the vaccine, and all those who will soon be invited to take the vaccine, to “stay strong” and get inoculated.

Her jab comes after nurses in Malta and Gozo have begun receiving the vaccination as up to 150 people are being vaccinating per day.
