Watch: Emanuel Cuschieri Calls Out Ministry Staff Who Ask Callers Where They Are From

In a recent broadcast, PL activist Emanuel Cuschieri criticised ministries who ask callers where they are from before even hearing out their complaints.

“I hope this practice isn’t widespread, but since I received these reports I have to speak about it,” Cuschieri said on his Linja Diretta show.

“Someone told me that they had called up certain ministries or parliamentary secretariats and before hearing them out, they asked where they are from. I don’t see why such questions should ever be asked. If you’re a Maltese citizen and require a service from a ministry, it doesn’t matter where you live.”

“The important thing is that you hear me out. If I don’t have a point, then explain to me why not. If I do have a point, then work to make sure I get what I deserve. Ministers should be there for all citizens and it should be unacceptable to ask callers for their districts and localities.”

Cuschieri said that while he is aware that such practices used to occur in the past, he had hoped the country had “politically matured” enough to put them behind it. He went on to warn ministers that he is ready to file a report if he receives a substantiated complaint and that he will even name names if no action is taken.
