Watch: Emanuel Cuschieri Warns Some People In PL Letting Power Get To Their Heads And Acting Disrespectful
Veteran PL activist and radio host Emanuel Cuschieri has warned that certain people within the ruling party are acting disrespectful and are letting power go to their heads.
Ahead of his most recent show, which has been moved to Facebook since ONE Radio decided not to include it in its summer schedule, Cuschieri gave a brief update on his own personal situation.
He said he has taken an “important decision” to safeguard his own health but stressed that this shouldn’t be interpreted as him distancing himself from the PL.
“What’s important to me is that my mind is at ease that my communication can be carried out from a more serene environment, far from those elements that don’t know the meaning of respect and appreciation.”
“However, if you think that my decision will create some kind of vacuum in the party I love so much, you can forget it. If someone needs to leave this party, it is those opportunists who only joined the PL for personal gain and not because they believe in its principles.”
“My place was here in the party, is still here and will remain here, because the PL doesn’t belong to anyone but the people.”
Without expanding further on the decision he has taken, Cuschieri promised his followers that he will eventually be releasing new information, “including names and surnames”.
“Afterwards, everyone will shoulder responsibility for what has happened and for what can happen in the future,” he said before appearing to send a message to unspecified people within the party.
“If you thought that I had a quiet summer and that I have forgotten what happened in recent weeks, then you’re very wrong and provably underestimated me,” he said. “They don’t know that I have always done, and will keep on doing, what I believe in and what I’m convinced by.”
“People love the PL and don’t just want to see it remain strong but also stick to its principles; it is the party of respect and solidarity with all of its people – those that joined in the past and new ones alike.”
“If weeds are growing around us and someone is somehow diminishing this reciprocal respect and solidarity that we’re so renowned for, then it must be corrected.”
His next comment strongly insinuated that the person or people he is referring to occupy high-ranking positions.
“If some people think they can impress us because they occupy a certain position, then they’re wrong,” he said. “One doesn’t earn the respect of people by holding a position but by showing them respect. Positions mean nothing and they come and go, and those with responsibility must keep this in mind or they could face huge disappointment.”
“I hope I was very clear and I expect to be clearer in the future. If some people think I am alone in insisting that the the PL should remain credible and respectful, then they’re wrong and time will prove us right.”
“Just because people may be silent, it doesn’t mean they aren’t observing and reaching their own conclusions. I know what I’m saying because I meet people and I’m not locked in an office.”
