Watch: Facing ‘Hate Speech’ Investigation, Phyllisienne Brincat Says She Was Misinterpreted

A gospel singer and activist who was reported to the police for “hate speech” after she explained Catholic doctrine on original sin has said her critics completely misinterpreted her words and intentions.

Phylisienne Brincat appeared on the F Living Show to discuss the controversy that erupted on Popolin when she said illness entered the world through the fall of Adam.

When she pointed out that her own late sister had Down Syndrome, many people accused her of suggesting that babies are born with disabilities because of the sin of their parents, and a group of people reported her to the police for “hate speech”.

However, Brincat has clarified her true intentions.

“I never blamed the parents and I never mentioned penance. It’s no joke trying to explain a concept and then people jump on you and misunderstand you.”

How can I point a finger at people with disabilities when my sister had Down Syndrome? That’s why I mentioned her and I don’t know why people kept uploading photos of your children with disabilities and asking me whether they are sins?”

“We aren’t born in sin but with a nature to do wrong. God created us perfect but sin means we are no longer perfect.”
