WATCH: Footage Emerges Of Fire And Chaos At Ħal Far Detention Centre Riot

Footage showing the fire and chaos last night’s riot at the Ħal Far Detention Centre has emerged.

Kicking off last night, the riot saw three police cars set on fire, with an officer also slightly injured in the disturbance. It has been reported that at least five cars belonging to employees and a number of rooms were also set on fire.

Net News reported that the riot could have involved at least 1,000 people. Police were unable to confirm the total figure, but said there were “quite a few”.

Investigations are on-going.

The situation at Ħal Far’s ‘Tent Village’ has grown tense over the last few months with multiple protests and disturbances taking place.

Meanwhile, the number of arrivals has increased over the last year.
