Watch: Footage From Sliema Fire Circulates On Social Media
Footage from the moment an apartment block in Qui-Si-Sana, Sliema, caught on fire is circulating on social media.
The video shows a cloud of black smoke emerging from an air conditioner while a fire was starting at the back of it. It then pans to a clip taken from the street of a window through which one can see the fire raging in the apartment building.
Speaking to a survivor of this fire, Lovin Malta was told that he woke up in a cloud of smoke after an AC in his apartment caught fire. He was able to navigate his way out because his flatmates went into the common parts and directed him.
“I was lucky I survived,” he said.
He was the only person who needed to be hospitalised and spent two hours at Mater Dei Hospital getting his lungs cleared.
Thankfully, no one sustained serious injuries and the apartment block was evacuated by emergency officials.
