Watch: Franco Debono ‘Attacked By PN Establishment’, Robert Abela Warns PL Supporters
Prime Minister Robert Abela has told PL supporters that Franco Debono’s “attack by the Nationalist Party establishment” is a sign the PN cannot be trusted to run the country.
“You saw the PN establishment once again raise its head and attack one of their own yesterday, let alone what they will do to every one of us,” Abela told a political rally in Gozo.
“Don’t trust them and don’t give them a chance. The PN establishment believes that it has a divine right to lead Malta and that it has a divine right to power. It doesn’t want power to help you but for themselves. They believe they have a divine right to enrich themselves off the people of Gozo. Let’s show them how wrong they are.”
Abela was referring to a dispute that arose at the studios of RTK103 yesterday, when PN lawyer Edward Debono claimed that Franco Debono expects to form part of the PN’s leadership as a precondition of his potential return to the party.
Franco Debono turned up to RTK’s studios moments later to denounce Edward Debono’s claim as a lie. He said that while he never demanded to be part of the PN’s leadership team, scientific surveys and non-scientific opinion polls carried out by Lovin Malta show several people want him there.
Edward Debono has said he based his criticism on a Facebook post he read, but he hasn’t been able to reproduce it.
