Watch: ‘Gaza Belongs To The Palestinians’ – Ian Borg Reacts To Trump’s AI Riviera Video

Malta’s Foreign Affairs Minister Ian Borg insisted that Gaza belongs to the Palestinians and that it should be up to them to decide whether or not to implement Donald Trump’s vision.
Lovin Malta’s Tim Diacono spoke to Borg after the US President shared an AI-generated video of Gaza as a high-end destination complete with skyscrapers, lavish beach resorts and a golden statue of Trump himself.
It came after Trump proposed that the US could take over Gaza, redevelop it and resettle its Palestinian inhabitants elsewhere.
“I am Malta’s Foreign Affairs Minister and not President Trump’s spokesperson,” Borg said.
“We have a clear position on the Middle East that we have worked for, including when we were in the UN Security Council. We believe that both Israel and Palestine must live in peace side by side, that Gaza belongs to the Palestinians, that security is paramount and that we must understand Israel’s real concerns.”
He refused to give his personal opinion on Trump’s vision, arguing that foreign policy shouldn’t consist of publicly discussing what other governments are doing but of speaking to them through official channels.
“Gaza should belong to the Palestinians and it’s up to them to decide whether to go ahead with these proposed projects, either with President Trump or another government.”
“We agree with international resolutions in favour of a two-state solution, which means our position is different.”
Borg also joked about the gold statue of Trump that was included in the Gaza video he shared.
“I honestly haven’t seen it, but I wouldn’t imagine it any other way,” he quipped.
