Watch: ‘Gidba! Gidba!’ – Abela Accuses Delia Of Lying About Vitals Sentence As Parliament Erupts
Parliament was suspended this evening – hours before a PN protest is set for Valletta – after a heated argument between PN MP Adrian Delia and Prime Minister Robert Abela.
Addressing Parliament and quoting from the Vitals-Steward sentence, Abela claimed that the court never said what Delia was saying – that the government had in some way acted fraudulent.
“It was crystal clear – the court never said the government had acted fraudulently,” Abela yelled, before shouting: “Gidba! Gidba! Gidba!” (Lies! Lies! Lies!)
The PN side of Parliament erupted into shouts and jeers at this comment, with Speaker Anglu Farrugia already trying to calm things down.
“I expect that you are here to protect in the case of lies being made about members of the house,” Delia began by addressing Farrugia, before taking it up a notch.
“The Prime Minister said that I lied with the courts. He didn’t say I read bad – I read well, and I read better than him, and I won the case, not lost it!”

Farrugia attempted to regain control of the house, and asked Abela to take back his words.
“The biggest form of a lie you can do with the court is saying the opposite of what the courts said in its sentence,” Abela responded.
“Abela challenged me to say what I said in parliament outside, and I’m going to – now, Abela should go out in the streets and say I’m a liar,” Delia shot back.
Delia once again asked the Speaker for Abela to retract his words – and if not, he be given protection.
