As the dust settles at Ta’ Qali following last night’s chaotic commotion, more footage has emerged showing just how much the situation kept spiralling out of control.
With a number of flares being thrown both onto the pitch and into their Maltese opponents’ stands, the visiting team’s fans were met with chants of “Palestine” as Ħamrun’s supporters scrambled to deal with the oncoming flares.
The match was suspended in the first half, before the players were allowed onto the pitch later. Maccabi Haifi went on to win the match 4-0, but the final scoreline was the least of anyone’s worries, with headlines instead focusing on how intense the situation was.
Meanwhile, tensions continue online, with a number of social media posts by Ħamrun Spartans being flooded by hateful comments accompanied by emojis bearing Maccabi’s green colours
