Watch: ‘I Was 21 When I Took Over My Dad’s Business’ – Joe Caruana Curran Endorses Alex Borg

Experienced businessman Joe Caruana Curran used his own personal experience to show how Alex Borg’s youth shouldn’t be viewed as a disadvantage in his quest for the PN leadership.
At a recent rally, Caruana Curran – who used to run an ice cream business – said he disagrees with people who view Borg’s age (30) as a shortcoming.
“I see it as the opposite,” he said.
“I know many people who succeeded in their fields even though they were young. My dad died when I was 21, I took over the family-owned factory, and I was quite successful.”
Caruana Curran also pointed out that he was only 26 years old when he was appointed president of Valletta FC, a role he held from 1987 to 2003.
“It isn’t the typical age for a job like that, but I don’t think that many presidents who were much older than I was had such a great time when I was president,” he quipped.
“I hope that Alex manages to emulate the success many people had in their personal careers and that he lives his youth as PN leader.”
