In an emotional intervention during a debate last night, independent MEP candidate and social media personality Adrian Zammit ‘Il-Bebbuxu’ said he wants to see the people of Malta “happy once more”.
“Although I joke a lot, I have lived a sad life and cried a lot in silence, and I had a past in drugs too,” Zammit said on Popolin.
“The problem is that hobbies like hunting are constantly under attack, the promised racetrack never materialised, hobbyists are treated like criminals these days, and unfortunately everyone ends up taking drugs.”

Zammit has been open about his past battles with heroin addiction, and said last night that he has ended up “practically alone” after losing most of his closest friends to drugs.
“We have become a sad nation,” he warned.
“I want people to be happy, irrelevant of how much money they have. Money doesn’t give you peace of mind. If the people give me an opportunity, then perhaps they will start living, and not just existing.”
