As Mosta residents tried to sleep last night, Infrastructure Malta was carrying out loud road works past 11pm on a residential road.

Footage sent to Lovin Malta by a disturbed resident shows road works taking place around midnight along Triq il-Kbira, with digging and loud machinery being used.

The resident detailed how the ground was literally shaking, with the road works keeping them up due to the loud disruption they caused.

In Malta, the permissible hours for construction works are between 7am and 8pm, as outlined within the Environmental Management Construction Site regulations.

Lovin Malta reached out to Infrastructure Malta for a comment on the works which were taking place.

“We confirm that indicated works are ours. These emergency patching works were scheduled and approved to happen in extended hours to avoid major disruptions for the whole area. These works are to be concluded this week,” a representative for Infrastructure Malta told this newsroom.

Do you think road works should be taking place on residential roads at night?
