Watch: Israel Is A Narcissist, Lebanese Woman Tells Valletta Protest
A Lebanese woman delivered an emotional speech at a protest in Valletta yesterday in which she compared Israel to a “narcissist”.
Joanna Jebaili hails from the Lebanese city of Tyre, which has been struck by Israeli bombs in recent days, displacing several people.
“I won’t call Israel a terrorist state here; we say a lot of things at home but today I will call it a narcissist,” Joanna told the protest.
“Narcissists take what you have and then tell you it wasn’t yours to begin with. They change the narrative – they say we weren’t together, they say this was not your land.”
“They tried to convince you that there are no Palestinians and now they’re doing the same thing in Lebanon. There are no Lebanese people. Lebanon is not a state but a forefront of the revolutionary guard.”
“But I know what country I’m from, and you don’t have to tell me, you narcissist. They say that neither us nor Palestinians meet the definition of a state. I never thought that I would know what it feels like to be a Palestinian in my lifetime, to have an Israeli in front of my house trying to take it.”
“I still have the keys of the home I grew up, where my grandmother taught me, where I learned French, Arabic and English. Are they going to sit in it, bomb it and take it from me?”
“After changing the narrative, narcissists then play the victim card. Now they’re saying they’re so angry at Arabs for making them kill their children; I would pray for their souls if I wasn’t so busy praying for Palestinians, Lebanese and I hope not Syrians and Yemenis too.”
