Watch: ‘It Can’t Be That A Work Commute Takes Longer Than A Flight To Rome’ – Alex Borg

Opposition Leader Alex Borg reiterated his call for PN and PL to reach an agreement on a mass transportation system.
“It cannot be the case that a trip from home to work, hospital or church takes longer than a flight to Rome,” Borg said yesterday.
“The PN has long been insisting on the need for a clear plan on a mass transportation system.”
Borg said he stressed this point in two recent meetings with Prime Minister Robert Abela.
“We cannot be partisan when discussing large projects like mass transportation but we must only think about the national interest,” he said.
“I am ready to sign a joint Memorandum of Understanding, complete with a sunset clause, to ensure that whichever party is in government embarks on such a project.”
Although Abela has been open to the idea of a mass transport system, Finance Minister Clyde Caruana has adopted a skeptical approach.
In a recent interview, Caruana warned that a mass transport system would only be a viable solution if a significant number of people switched from using their private cars to travelling via public transport.
