Watch: ‘It’s Heartbreaking’ – Thief Caught Stealing From Brillace Cafe
Brilliace cafe was burglarised in the early hours of this morning and the owners are set to raise awareness on the rise of thefts and robberies across the island.
“It’s an invasion, it feels so wrong, it’s heartbreaking honestly,” Marilena Gauci told Lovin Malta.
The thief is a man who broke into the Gżira establishment this morning at around 12.20am, he stole all the money out of the cash register which was holding a little over €300.
Marilena described this as an “incredible problem” that’s rising in Malta’s security and surveillance.
She added that another shop close by was recently robbed, while apartments in the locality have also been targeted by such criminals.
“There is a problem of security in certain areas. These thefts cannot continue to go unseen, there is a dire need for a serious call for action.”
Marilena sent Lovin Malta footage of the theft in action, as well as the state of the cafe after it was forced into. One video shows a man forcefully entering the cafe while another displays him stealing the cash from the register.
Nonetheless, the owner explained that the police have responded very well to the report while her family, friends and clients have been very encouraging.
