JeanPaul Sofia’s mother is desperately appealing for justice and for responsibility to be shouldered regarding her son’s death, with his family uploading a photo montage of the victim’s life.

Speaking with Lovin Malta, JeanPaul’s mother, Isabelle Bonnici, said that the least she can do now is make sure she brings him justice.

“I cannot let my precious son’s death be in vain. The least I can do is get justice for him and make sure no parent experiences such pain ever again,” she said.

“I will fight until my last breath so that whoever is responsible will be held accountable. They need to pay for ruining JeanPaul’s joy for living and for depriving his loved ones of ever seeing his infectious smile again.”

“Believe me,” she continued, “even if justice is served and whoever is guilty of this murder is sent to jail, they are still in a much better place than us who really and truly loved JeanPaul.”

She also added that Malta’s laws are in a need of a change to assure safety and security on construction sites.

20-year-old JeanPaul tragically lost his life in a construction site accident that happened earlier this month, after a building collapsed in Kordin. He was recovered from the rubble 15 hours later.

Since then, nothing much has happened to bring justice to the family, and they are now appealing for accountability and more information on who will be held responsible for the death.

“Our family is crushed, too many unanswered questions. Who is the project manager? Who are the builders? Are they skilled builders? Who is responsible? Whose family is next?” the victim’s family questioned on social media.

“We love you and miss you tremendously, JeanPaul. You are always in our hearts.”

“As a family, we need support to put pressure on a public inquiry, This is the only way to prevent future tragedies.”

What do you make of this plea for justice?
