Watch: Joseph Muscat – ‘I Will Sue The Instigators For €11 Million When I Win The Case’
Joseph Muscat came out firing on all cylinders in his first interview since he was charged with corruption, money laundering, and criminal association in connection with the Vitals magisterial inquiry.
Interviewed on F Living, Muscat said he is so convinced of his innocence that he is ready to face life imprisonment if he is found to have illicitly pocketed €30 million.
However, he warned that if he wins the case, he will personally hunt down the people who “instigated” these charges and sue down for at least €11 million, the money spent on the magisterial inquiry so far.
“If and when nothing is found, will things play out like they did with the Russian (Maria Efimova) who is still running around as though nothing happened after she concocted the Egrant story?”
Muscat pledged that he has no intention of fleeing the country, and said he is more concerned that the “instigators” will escape once the charges are exposed as a “froġa” (mess-up).
“I will be the first to insist that the €11 million that has been spent on this inquiry so far aren’t paid from the public purse but by the instigators. If needs be, I will sue them myself.”
“I am ready to put my life on the line – not just 18 years in prison but life imprisonment – if it turns out that I pocketed the money. However, when it is proved to be an invention, I will be the first to take every step possible to ensure the instigators pay at least €11 million that was wasted from public funds for this piece of work.”
