Watch: Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici Given Final Farewell, Maltese Flag Draped Over His Coffin
Malta paid its final respects to Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici today, three days after the former Prime Minister passed away at the age of 89.
A funeral cortege was held in Ħamrun, the town Mifsud Bonnici moved to after World War II forced his family out of their hometown of Bormla.
A Maltese flag was draped over Mifsud Bonnici’s coffin as the cortege passed by the Labour Party’s Mile End headquarters, where PL MPs, officials and activists gathered to pay their respects.
To cheers from the crowd, Prime Minister Robert Abela and his wife Lydia Abela placed a wreath on the coffin.
