Watch: ‘Labour Is The Only Guarantee For Village Feasts’ – Alex Agius Saliba

PL deputy leader Alex Agius Saliba claimed that the Labour Party is the only political party that can guarantee the future of traditional Maltese village feasts and other hobbies.
Addressing a PL political rally yesterday, Agius Saliba heavily criticised a recently defeated PN bill which would have enshrined the “right to the environment” as a fundamental human right.
“We witnessed a real threat to things we might have taken for granted in society,” he warned.
“We don’t take hunting and trapping for granted because we constantly face fights on a local and European level. However, village feasts, pyrotechnics and sports might have been taken for granted by many people.”
“However, now we know where the PN can take these hobbies. Their proposed constitutional amendment means that everything which gives us identity could have been lost in the blink of an eye.”
At yesterday’s rally, Prime Minister Robert Abela pledged to enshrine the protection of village feasts, hunting, trapping, sports and other traditions in the Maltese Constitution.
