Watch: Literal Elephant In The Room As Malta’s Finance Minister Stunts Loudly During Budget Meeting

Malta’s Finance Minister went old school during a morning budget discussion, using a classic Powerpoint move to emphasise an economic point.

While discussing rising energy bills across Malta and Europe, Clyde Caruana pointed out how much the state was spending to address the public’s concerns, before bringing in an international context in a big way.

“Let’s see what’s happening in other countries, as this is the elephant in the room. This is what everyone is talking about, let’s see what’s going on,” he said.

Caruana then clicks a button, leading to a loud trumpeting sound being emitted throughout the room accompanied by a grey elephant in a kitchen.

While most people don’t react to the sudden loud cry during a morning conference, at least one person turns around and can’t help but laugh.

Speaking to Lovin Malta, Caruana’s team said they wanted to add a bit of “humour” into the address, to drive his point home.

You can watch the full address below – the elephant in the room moments at around 42:43 mins.
