Watch: Malta Development Head ‘Has No Problem’ Becoming A Graffitti Member
Malta Development Association President Michael Stivala said he has no problem applying for membership of Moviment Graffitti, one of the most vocal NGOs against the construction industry.
During a recent episode of Jon Mallia’s Il-Każin, Stivala faced off against Graffitti activist Andre Callus. While Callus confronted Stivala over several development-related concerns, the MDA head ended up agreeing with a lot of the activist’s warnings.
He said developers operate within the parameters of planning policies, but that several of these policies need to be updated. Stivala even invited Callus to a meeting to outline all the policies that both Graffitti and MDA agree must be amended. He said they should then present these proposals to the Prime Minister together to signal to the government that businesses and residents are on the same page and pressure a change in policy.
At the end of the debate, Lovin Malta’s Tim Diacono asked Stivala whether he is willing to become a Graffitti member, and the MDA president said he has “no problem” doing so.
“We agree with them on a lot of things,” he said, even praising Graffitti for its stance on the war in Gaza.
Callus took a cautious stance, stating that membership is open to all but that Stivala has “realistically has no reason” to become a member.
