Malta has rolled out two AI lecturers, Ryan and Clara, to teach prospective tourism and hospitality employees who wish to obtain a new skills card.
As of May, third-country nationals who want to work in tourism must obtain a national skills pass at a cost of €475. Applications are set to open on 8th April.
By January 2025, third-country nationals who already work in Malta will also need to apply for a skills pass if they want to renew their work permits.

By January 2026, the scheme will be rolled out for EU and Maltese tourism workers.
Employees who are formally qualified in their field will not need to obtain a skills pass, while those who aren’t formally qualified but who have gained significant experience will undergo a verification process.
Prospective workers will be taught courses in English, customer care, hospitality, and what Malta offers tourists.
