In a summer defined by widespread grassfires and spreading blazes, the dedicated professionals at the Civil Protection Department have risked life and limb ensuring Malta doesn’t burn.

Lovin Malta’s newest feature Line Of Fire is a closer look at the challenges, trials and successes of the specialised department.

With over 270 members and around 100 fire engines and related vehicles to turn to when the time comes, join Kordin Station Manager Timmy Willie and his expert team as they take on fires, wherever and whenever they appear.

From firework factory explosions to severe fires across dry Gozo erupting at once, the firefighters within the CPD have had their hands full this summer – but it’s nothing they aren’t used to.

Trained, focused, and well-aware of the protocol that will lead to a successful mission with no loss of life, CPD officers are often the first – and last – line of protection and rescue for people in dire straights across the island.

Lovin Malta took a closer look at what officers face on a day-to-day basis, joining them as they battled blazes and answered the call to rescue.
