WATCH: ‘Malta’s Most Dangerous Driver’ To Be Charged In A Court Of Law

A truck which was recorded breaking traffic rules on the streets of Malta showed up again more than once over the weekend, with the man behind the wheel being dubbed “Malta’s most dangerous driver“. Now, it seems like the driver has been found, and will be issued charges.

Two videos of the truck – first while overtaking on a blind corner in Mosta and then while disregarding a Qormi roundabout – appeared online on the same day, and it only got worse when a third video resurfaced. This video, which was shot in April in San Ġwann, appears to show the exact same truck, overtaking cars while driving uphill.

A couple of online users realised that the telling marks and scratches on the back of the truck perfectly match in all videos, with others going on to say that even the manoeuvres used were close to identical. The video from April now has nearly 20,000 views, and its slightly higher quality allowed people to identify the number plate of the truck.

In a post shared on the popular Facebook forum The Salott, it didn’t take long for people to make the connection between the three videos, and for hundreds to start demanding for justice.

Eventually, the video reached Sandro Muscat, the Regional Enforcement Officers of LESA (Local Enforcement System). “ABQ 567,” Sandro commented. “Will be done by tomorrow. Thanks.”

Lovin Malta reached out to Sandro Muscat for an official statement and clarification on his comment posted on Sunday morning.

“We are currently in the process of contacting the owner of the vehicle,” Muscat told Lovin Malta. “We shall be asking him to report to our head office in Pieta’, where he shall be spoken to by our CEO. From here, all the necessary charges shall be issued.”

In lieu of a normal fine, a charge threatened in a Court of Law provides way more. Apart from a hefty fine, the driver faces more permanent sanctions… including having his license revoked.
