Sam Fenech was treated by paramedics upon crashing his Chevrolet Camaro and hitting a camera tower at 320km/h.
The 55-year-old who was very well-known within the racing community in Australia received countless heart-warming messages wishing him to rest in peace.
“It is with great sadness that Top Fuel Racing Australia announces that Sam Fenech, driver of the Fabietti Racing Doorslammer, has succumbed to injuries suffered in a racing accident at Willowbank Raceway and passed away this evening,” the raceway stated.
A friend of Fenech’s expressed to Lovin Malta what a kind and loving man Fenech was.
“An honest and respectful family man. Always striving to help people as well as driving the drag race.”
It’s also been revealed that Fenech was involved in a similar accident in January 2019 where he hit the tire barrier at the braking area where his parachute failed to blossom. However, he seemed to walk out of the car unharmed, according to DailyMail.
