A Maltese author has been questioned by police after speaking out against migrants on his Facebook page.

Kevin Falzon, whose books discuss Gnosticism, the occult and spiritual issues, told his followers that police summoned him after they received a report in relation to messages he passed on his Facebook page about migrants.

“The police were very humble and treated me very well, they understood my point and I understood theirs too, but they also told me to take a backseat and to keep a low profile because I will be summoned to court in a few months’ time and they suggested that I hire a lawyer,” he said.

He decried his situation as “shameful” and indicative on how the Maltese population has reached its “final stage”.

A police spokesperson confirmed with Lovin Malta that Falzon is being investigated over social media posts about migrants but refused to confirm whether any charges will be pressed against him.

A video recently uploaded by Falzon in which he decried the high rate of immigration to Malta and the nonchalant attitude by the government and the people went somewhat viral on Facebook, viewed over 29,000 times and shared 359 times.

“Our forefathers were attacked by foreigners but they had the guts to rise up and revolt against the likes of Gonzalo Monroy and the French. What happened to those Maltese people? We wet ourselves because 25 Syrians fought in Ħamrun?” Falzon said.

“Where are the people of Ħamrun, Valletta and Birkirkara? Everyone is at home scrolling through Facebook like pastizzi. Where are the Maltese bullies? Why don’t we sweep them out? If the government doesn’t have balls and is a cuckold of the EU, then it must be the people who respond. We can’t keep going on like this; it’s not just about the economy but national security and our children’s future.”

He also called for a referendum on “legal and illegal immigration”, a loud street protest and proper investment in Maltese folklore.

In another post, which Facebook deleted for breaching its hate speech rules, Falzon responded to allegations that a migrant had used his belt to threaten police officers by urging people to “support the police against such filth”.

Partit Popolari leader Paul Salomone stood up for Falzon, stating he is ready to testify on the author’s behalf if he is charged in court.

“There is nothing in his videos that incites racial hatred, he just said the truth.” Salomone insisted. “He was right when he said this is the final phase for the people of Malta… a phase of the yoke, dictatorship and injustice, where we don’t even have a right to defend our children and future generations.”

Lovin Malta has asked Falzon which parts of his social media posts the police viewed as a crime but he hasn’t responded as of the time of writing.
