Watch: Maltese Students Develop Extremely Useful App To Track Live Location Of School Transport In Real Time

Three Maltese students have designed an app aimed at tracking school buses and minibusses in real-time.

As part of the JA Malta Foundation initiative, Andy Wadge, Daniel Briffa and Ben Borg joined forces with IT company Arkafort to design the app, which uses the same technology as cab platforms like Bolt and Uber.

Interviewed on TVAM, the students said they came up with the idea to make life easier for students who currently have to wait outside, sometimes in the rain or blazing heat, for an extended period of time until their school transport arrives.

The app will include a map, which will show users exactly where the van is and whether it is stuck in traffic, and will notify them when the vehicle is about to arrive.

It is set to launch at De La Salle in the third scholastic year but the students plan to eventually expand it to all Maltese schools.
