A man was filmed attempting to interrupt a protest held in Valletta today in solidarity with author Mark Camilleri.

As speeches were being said, an elderly man in bright red trousers walked in front of the speaker before turning around and shakily doing a half dance.

He remains on the spot, right in front of speaker and attending media, before police beckon him over. Repubblika President Robert Aquilina can be seen nearby.

The video, released by Sidestreet, ends with the police speaking to the man and escorting him away.

Today’s protest was held in the wake of Camilleri publishing the private chats of murder suspect Yorgen Fenech and MP Rosianne Cutajar.

Though a 2021 court order banned the publication of the chats, Camilleri made them public anyway, arguing its in the public interest to see them.

Since then, a court ordered the police to investigate author Camilleri, leading to calls for a protest and even condemnation from abroad.

What do you make of the man’s interruption?
