Watch: Matthew Camilleri Becomes First Maltese MMA Fighter To Get Cage Warriors Victory
Matthew Camilleri became the first Maltese fighter to win in the prestigious Cage Warriors (CW) in a Lightweight division match last night.
Cage Warriors is an Irish-owned MMA promotions company based in England and is one of Europe’s premier MMA organisations.
The 28-year-old became an official CW fighter earlier this year and earned his victory over Niccolo Solinas from Italy after he forced him to submit following a rear-naked choke near the three-minute mark of the second round.

Camilleri now has seven wins in nine professional fights, confirming his standing in the MMA scene.
SportsDesk reported prior to this fight, Camilleri was ranked 34th from 246 UK/Ireland Pro Lightweights.
The Maltese fighter is affiliated with American Kickboxing Academy and trains at the Next Generation MMA Liverpool gym.
As the first Maltese MMA fighter to claim a win in Cage Warriors, Matthew Camilleri has not only achieved a remarkable personal milestone but has also proudly flown the Maltese flag on an international platform.
Well done Matthew!
