Article Featured Image

The Mellieħa hill, known for its symbolic cross at the very top, was in flames last night during the International Fireworks Festival.

Footage sent to Lovin Malta shows the hill engulfed in flames last night after fireworks were set off from the very top.

A number of fires can be seen spread out across the affected area.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the ordeal, however, fireworks have yet again proven to be detrimental to the surrounding environment and wildlife.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were on-site to control the flames.
