Watch: Metsola Says Maltese Who Live Abroad Should Get To Vote At Embassies

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has resuscitated a discussion that typically only takes place before election time.
In an interview with Lovin Malta’s Tim Diacono, Metsola said that Maltese citizens who live or are receiving treatment overseas should be allowed to cast their votes at a Maltese embassy rather than be forced to catch a flight to Malta.
“We haven’t even started properly discussing this issue yet,” she said. “We keep on promising to implement it a week before the election, but then let five years pass before we start talking about it again.”
“Let’s start a pilot project that would allow Maltese people to vote from embassies. I would like us to start discussing this and to be part of these discussions.”
