Watch: Mother Shows How Impossible It Is To Navigate Malta’s Pavements With A Pushchair
A mother has shown how near-impossible it is to navigate Malta’s pavements with a pushchair and two young children.
In a video sent to Lovin Malta, the mother can be seen struggling to keep walking on the pavement in Qawra, due to the great amount of trash bags taking up most of the already-small space.
“Somebody explain to me, how a mother with two kids and a pushchair can walk on the pavement in this country. Somebody explain it to me,” she says.
She can be seen trying to continue moving on the pavement, almost hitting cars and dragging trash bags with the pushchair.
“Or do I need to kick all the bags somewhere? I don’t know. Or do I need to go in the street and be careful that a car does not hit me?” she questions.
In another shot, she shows what little space is left on the pavement, with most of the space being taken up by recycling bags.
“This is how small the pavement is, and look at that,” she says, as she zooms to the end of the street showing even more bags, “look at that! Amazing, very clever garbage system.”
“Welcome to Europe,” she concludes.
This is far from the first time that issues were raised related to Malta’s pavements, with accessibility issues often being highlighted.
Do you think Malta needs a better garbage system?
