“Police should treat Gozo as a distinct district because it’s cut off from the rest of Malta,” he said, once again pushing a proposal that would see all the Malta-based police sections have a strong presence in Gozo too.

“We have reached a point where all Gozitan police squads should be reinforced to keep up with all the problems we’ve been seeing. The people of Gozo should feel safe at home and outdoors.”

Borg told Lovin Malta that he has heard of five Xewkija robberies over the past month alone and that the Għajnsielem mayor has informed him that there is a streak of robberies there as well.

Most robberies appear to be targeting households, although there has also been an attempted robbery from a club.
