Watch: Msida Resident Warns Man Exposing Himself In Public, Sleeping Outside And Scaring People
An Msida resident has opened up about how she is scared to leave her home at night because a man is regularly getting drunk and disturbing the public peace.
The Maltese woman showed Lovin Malta a video she took of the man in Triq Dijonisju Famuċelli earlier this week, which shows him shouting and exposing himself in the middle of the street. She said the man was flashing a group of teenagers and drinking out of a carton of Lachryma Vitis.
“This has been going on for a while,” she warned.
“He goes to work in the morning but at night he’s always on the streets, constantly drunk on Lachryma Vitis, urinating on the streets and exposing his private parts.”
“He shouts under my window for two hours non-stop late at night, swearing in Maltese, and I’m scared to go out at night to walk my dog.”
She said a neighbour informed her that she once saw him sleeping outside.
The resident said she was once taking a walk when the man suddenly jumped out from behind a tree and shouted in her face.
“I was so terrified and I almost cried.”
She said a neighbour reported the man to the police this week for disturbing the public peace, but when three officers arrived on the scene, they informed them they couldn’t do anything on the spot.
“They said that he wasn’t doing anything wrong at the moment and that I should take a video and post it online so that perhaps something will be done about it,” she said.
And she added that when she called up the police station on another occasion, they advised her and other neighbours to open a court case and testify against him.
“I’d rather not open a court case and use up days from my vacation leave to testify against him. This man is constantly disturbing the public peace and harassing people and the police should take action.”
“If, God forbid, he ever does something even more serious then everyone will say how sorry they are for the victim but we’ve been flagging this problem to the authorities for a while.”
