Watch: ‘No Greater Alliance’ – Metsola Calls For New EU-US Deal
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said there is no greater alliance that has shaped the modern world than the one between the EU and the United States.
Metsola said the EU must follow up its recent deal with the UK on issues such as fishing, defence and youth experience programmes with deals with Canada and the US.
“To be clear, there is no greater alliance in the history of the modern world that has shaped so many lives and created so much prosperity than our alliance with the US,” she said at the Forum Europa conference.
“We must keep building and reinforcing it, while of course being ready for any scenario. But ultimately, a comprehensive EU-US agreement must be our goal. That is how we create prosperity and reinforce our security.”
