Watch: Norman Lowell Says Drug Overdosers Should Be ‘Left On The Streets’

Imperium Europa leader and MEP candidate Norman Lowell has declared that the government should stop helping people who overdose on drugs.

Lowell made this eyebrow-raising statement during an interview with university student and SDM executive member Miirko Sant as part of a project of interviews with politicians from different sides of the political spectrum.

Questioned about his opinion on the legalisation of cannabis and a recent proposed drug reform, Lowell said he “doesn’t care” so long as the state stops funding treatment for people who overdose.

“No way, we should just leave them there on the streets,” he said bluntly.

“Let them have it, but we shouldn’t give them free syringes. You ask people where they’re going and they tell you they’re going to a clinic to get free syringes (of methadone) from the government. That will stop. This Carnival parade has to stop. If you have an overdose…”

Here, Lowell gave a dismissive gesture before describing himself as a “libertarian”.

“They call us Nazis, fascists and racists because they don’t understand the difference between liberals and libertarians. We are definitely not liberals, but we are libertarians.”
