Malta’s Animal Welfare Commissioner has raised the alarm after a dead dog was floating out at sea last Sunday.
Shocking images of the dead and decomposed dog entangled in what appears to be a grocery basket surfaced online.
It was found just three miles off Ta’ Cenc by businessman and perfumer Stephen Cordina, who sent the footage to Animal Welfare.
The Animal Commissioner shared the footage on her own social media, calling it an ‘outrageous act of cruelty and cowardice’ and issuing a call for more information on the matter.
Judging by the direction it was headed, authorities have said that the dog might appear in Popeye’s Village or Gnejna region.
If you happen to spot it, please contact Animal Welfare on 2292 4132 or on 1717, while any information on who may have committed the atrocious act can contact the Commissioner for Animal Welfare on 2292 8616.
