Watch: ‘Paceville Isn’t A Disaster’ – Philip Fenech Responds To Swieqi Deputy Mayor’s Warning

Paceville Town Centre Management chairman Philip Fenech dismissed Swieqi Deputy Mayor Jordan Galea’s warnings about the state of the entertainment district.
On Popolin, Galea Pace described Paceville as a “disaster”.
“There are drugs there, and many Maltese youths now hang out at Sliema these days because Paceville is such a disaster,” he warned.
However, Fenech said the deputy mayor was exaggerating and had “no idea” what Paceville is really like.
“Around 15,000 people visit Paceville everyday so incidents are obviously going to occur but it’s not like a fight breaks out every minute,” he said.
“It’s a marketing mix, and tourists of all ages visit at all times of day. It is clear that [Galea Pace] doesn’t go to Paceville, but I go at least twice a week and stay out till 4am.”
“I know all the establishment owners and I know what challenges it faces, but it’s not true that it’s a constant disaster.”
Fenech added that Paceville is undergoing an “enormous transformation” and said businesses wouldn’t invest so much money in the area if it was so disastrous.
He added that Paceville is experiencing the “growing pains” of economic expansion, and the challenge now lies in ensuring that one sector’s growth doesn’t cause collateral damage to the others.
