Watch: PBS Security Guard Tries And Fails To Stop Repubblika’s Robert Aquilina From Giving Press Conference Inside Foyer
A PBS security guard confronted Robert Aquilina this afternoon after the Repubblika president entered the national broadcaster’s foyer to deliver a scathing press conference against them.
As Aquilina railed against PBS for what he said was an intentional strategy to eliminate critical voices from the airwaves, a security guard and a PBS employee approached him.
The security guard calmly told Aquilina to vacate the premises, but the Repubblika head was having none of it.
“Sir, if the PBS leadership is uncomfortable with our voices, then we will come here ourselves, to the home of all the people of Malta. If you please, we will continue,” he said.
The security guard and the PBS employee promptly walked out and Aquilina’s press conference continued without further interruptions.

Speaking to Lovin Malta, Aquilina made it clear that the security guard was just doing his job but that his instructions represented the latest attempt by PBS to silence government critics.
“The national broadcaster’s reaction to my press conference this morning was to instruct its security guard to ask me to leave its their premises,” he said. “The security guy who approached was doing his job. He did nothing wrong. I told him this after the press conference ended. It’s PBS who once more showed its eagerness to silence voices who are critical towards the government, rather than to allow them the space to get their message across to the public and to take part in a healthy and democratic discussion.”
“PBS is obliged to give space to all voices in the country. We will no longer accept a state of censorship on the national broadcaster.”
Do you think PBS should give a bigger platform to government critics?
