Watch: PL Candidate’s Father Breaks Into Tears Hearing His Daughter Praise Him And Mintoff
Labour MEP candidate Claudette Abela Baldacchino’s father broke into tears after hearing his daughter praise him for introducing her to the teachings of former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff.
During a political activity yesterday, Abela Baldacchino praised her father Carmelo Baldacchino, a former soldier and cemetery worker, for introducing her to socialism and the importance of helping people at the bottom of society.
“That’s what Perit Mintoff always taught us to do,” she remarked, as the camera panned to a tearful Carmelo in the audience.
She also praised her mother Karmena as a “true woman” and a “pillar of strength” and thanked her for her support when she was involved in a serious traffic accident 17 years ago.
Abela Baldacchino, who served as a PL MEP between 2013 and 2014, said she decided to run again after speaking to her mother and the Prime Minister about her seven-year-old twin children.
“My mother told me to take care of my children, for whom my husband Kevin and I suffered so much to bring into this world,” she said of her children who were born through IVF.
“What my mother told me was the same thing Robert Abela said, when he told me to take this step for the sake of all the children of Malta, because only the PL through its MEPs can provide them with a better future.”
