PL deputy leader and MEP Alex Agius Saliba urged the authorities to clamp down on online “hate speech” which he claimed is originating from the Opposition and anti-government forces.

“I condemn all the insults and this hostile climate that the Opposition and its people have been pushing in recent days,” Agius Saliba told a PL rally today.

“We speak a lot about mental health and against bullying but then we see an Opposition that enjoys promoting cruelty and spite on a level that I have barely ever seen in my life.”

“Behind every politician is a family that always suffers in silence, and while I accept that all politicians must accept a certain level of criticism, there are limits to everything.”

“I must therefore appeal to the authorities to be more vigilant against online hate speech and campaigns, against all those in the PN who are making use of fake profiles to ruin and hurt people and to try to sow division and hatred in the country.”

“Let’s not allow them to destroy and divide our country as they divided their own party.”
