WATCH: PM Says He Will Take Decision To Publish Egrant Report After Conclusion Of Delia Case – ‘I Will Keep My Promise’

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat insisted that he “will keep [his] promise” to publish the completed Egrant inquiry, but stressed that he would have to take a more informed decision once PN Leader Adrian Delia’s case on the issue is concluded.

Following the publication of its conclusions last year, issues surrounding the Egrant inquiry have been gridlocked in court after Delia filed a constitutional case arguing that the AG was creating political inequality between the two main parties by failing to provide him with a copy.

It has long been argued that Muscat was given access to the inquiry given that his wife and himself were its focus. However, it has since emerged that several key figures, including Minister of Justice Owen Bonnici, have seen the full report.

When the Egrant inquiry conclusions were first made public, Muscat had promised to publish the full investigation.

Speaking to the press, Muscat said that he will wait for the conclusion of the case before taking a final decision on whether or not to publish the report, adding that the inquiry may impinge on himself and other investigations that may take place.

“I need to take into account what the AG says, what the court says, and my own political responsibility,” he said.
